Why take attendance at all? 1. It’s good to know who is coming to class so that if a student is not attending and is “at risk”, I can identify them quickly and get them some help. 2. Students who are unsuccessful and appeal their mark are often the same students who miss many classes. An electronic record gives me additional evidence to support the failing grade. Summary Video What does this add to our pedagogy? The square root of squat. However, automating attendance frees up more time for students to learn. It also eliminates the use of paper and that saves trees and reduces pollution. That has to be worth something?!

Hi Rob. We are going to be conducting a trial of this system here at ACU in Sydney. My colleagues have suggested that it may be a good project to conduct some kind of research in. Any assistance that you could provide me would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Graham Munro
