About me
I am a professor of paramedicine at Georgian College in Barrie, Ontario Canada and up until Feb., 2019 I was also working as a paramedic on weekends. However, I am still a registered paramedic. I'm an author, both published and self-published, researcher, blogger and Podcaster. On the EdTech side, I have a Master of Educational Technology from the University of British Columbia and I have been an EdTech geek for years.
Novelist and lyricist Paulo Coelho once said "Sometimes you have to travel a long way to find what is near". I have found this to be true of educational technology. As an example, I once decided that I wanted to Podcast my classes. What should have taken me minutes to chose the right recording device took hours of reading and researching followed by almost two years of experimenting with 3-4 devices until I got one. From there the search began for a free Podcasting platform. This was another long journey that should have taken far less time. Over the past 15-20 years I have taken many long EdTech journeys to find what was near and I plan to share these with those who visit my blog.
What's my point? Teachers are content experts and enablers of learning. They're not typically educational technology experts. As an explorer and enthusiast, what I offer in this blog for educators is information to help you integrate technology in the classroom. I do this so that your travels may be shorter.
